Queen of the Coast - Oil on gator board 24 x 36
I am painting this purely for fun. Special thanks to my friend Teri Moreno McClelland for modeling for the part! You are an awesome model. It's in oils, 24 x 36 on gesso'd gator board. It was inspired by a painting that I saw at Dragoncon, though mine is quite different. It may or may not turn out well but I like it so far. I realize I'm not the worlds best portrait artist by far; they are very challenging for me, but I am keeping a light heart with this one. ! I am trying to use a bit more paint than normal and a bit less medium as I flesh it out (no pun intended....seriously). I am using a wide color palette for this one also. Titanium White, Cool White, Warm white, cool gray, warm gray, cad yellow light, yellow ochre, raw sienna, Grumbacher red, alizarin crimson, cad red light, burnt sienna, sap green, chrome green oxide, cerulean blue, ultramarine blue, thalo blue, and ivory black. That is a really big palette!
As it turned out, this is one of my favorite paintings I have ever done, and it means a lot to me. It was fun, and a good friend modeled for it with a light and open heart, and I will always cherish that.
